Investment Management
Realized growth. Invest in your tomorrow. Act.
Portfolios you can evaluate. Most portfolios are impossible to judge: you can see that the number went up, but not whether that was the plan working or the market rising. Ours are measured against a written plan and a benchmark.
Investment management is not offered by Connotia, LLC. It is offered through Gwynedd Wealth Partners, LLC (GWP), a Registered Investment Advisor registered in the state of Pennsylvania. Vivek Sharma is an investment adviser representative of GWP.
Investing involves risk, including the loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Where every portfolio starts
Three different questions about risk
They are not the same question. A portfolio built on only one of them tends to be abandoned at the worst possible moment. We ask all three, separately, and build to the answer.
Capacity
Can you afford the downside?
A matter of arithmetic: your time horizon, your income, your obligations, and how much of your net worth is already tied to one employer.
Willingness
Will you hold it?
A matter of temperament. It decides whether you keep to the plan in a bad quarter.
Requirement
Do your goals need it?
The return your goals need in the base case. If your goals can be met with less risk, there is no reward for taking more.
How the work runs
Four disciplines, each one visible to you
Construction
A diversified allocation matched to your capacity, willingness and requirement for risk. Built to capture upside and to survive drawdowns without forcing a decision you will regret.
Cost and tax discipline
Fees and taxes are the part of the return you control. Both are managed deliberately, not left to chance.
Measurement
Performance reported against a benchmark chosen in advance, so “is this working?” has an answer rather than an opinion.
Review
Scheduled reviews against the plan you agreed to, not against the headlines of the week.
Evaluated against a written plan
Separate what your decisions did from what the market did
The plan is written down before money moves: the allocation, the benchmark, and the rules for rebalancing and for drawdowns. Results are then measured against it.
That is the only way to tell a plan that is working from a market that is rising. It is also the discipline behind the CIPM® designation Vivek holds.
Written before money moves
- The target allocation, and why
- The benchmark it will be measured against
- When and how it is rebalanced
- What happens in a drawdown, agreed in advance
- The review schedule
