Financial Planning
Plan with evidence. Implement with care. Monitor with discipline.
Most financial lives rest on one set of assumptions: one income path, one market path, one retirement date. That is not a plan. It is a single projection with a lot riding on it.
Financial planning is not offered by Connotia, LLC. It is offered through Gwynedd Wealth Partners, LLC (GWP), a Registered Investment Advisor registered in the state of Pennsylvania. Vivek Sharma is an investment adviser representative of GWP.
Three stages
A plan is a hypothesis about your future. We treat it like one.
01
Plan with evidence
Your income, savings, equity compensation, obligations and goals, gathered and written down. Every assumption is stated in plain numbers you can read and argue with.
02
Implement with care
The decisions the plan calls for, taken in order and on paper: savings rates, account choices, insurance, and the timing of vesting and sales.
03
Monitor with discipline
Scheduled reviews that re-run the plan with new data and compare it with what was expected, not with the headlines.
A scientific process
Hypothesis, controls, replication
The habits of good research apply to a financial plan.
Hypothesis
The plan’s assumptions are written as claims that can be checked: this savings rate, this return, this retirement date.
Controls
The base case is the control. Alternatives change one assumption at a time, so you can see what each one is worth.
Replication
At each review the plan is re-run with new data. If the conclusion holds, you keep going. If it does not, we find out why.
Tested, not projected
One plan, three scenarios
Your future should not rest on one line on a chart.
Best case
What the plan looks like if markets, pay and timing go your way, and what you would do with the surplus.
Base case
The central assumptions, written down so you can see them and argue with them.
Worst case
What still has to hold if things go badly, and which decisions are made in advance.
The full method has its own home
